s'mores, basil, biscoff, cinnamon

this week: 🥐🍦🥞🍹

Welcome to Sweet Scout. Thank you for subscribing to the newsletter. 🤎

First, I’d appreciate it a bunch if you share this baby of mine with any of your local foodie and/or sweet loving peeps (even just one is great!).

You can use the links at the top of this letter or just share the subscribe link (click here to just directly share the page).

As for the premise, every week I’ll be sending you a few unique and notable Richmond desserts I’ve discovered.

I’ve teamed up with all the bakeries and restaurants included in the newsletter to repost and share the treat I’ve picked (with permission of course). Think of it as a little directory. 📖

I’m also partnering with local business sponsors to share events or other things that any sweet lover can appreciate.

This week’s issue is presented in partnership with Pop Up RVA. Get the deets of their new location opening in Chesterfield. The info is at the bottom of this email.

Now that we have all that covered, let’s get into our first batch of sweets…

Nutella and S'mores-y Cruffin
Ironclad Coffee Roasters & Baking Co.

This cruffin (croissant and muffin hybrid if it didn’t click 🥐) is filled with Nutella, topped with house-made mocha sauce and graham cracker, and finished with a torched vanilla bean marshmallow. Yum! The price is $6 and it’s seasonal.

Sweet Basil Ice Cream
Scoop

Ice cream steeped with fresh basil. Does this count as an herbal remedy? It’s good for cooling and happiness so I think so. 😉 This scoop is seasonal and will only be around for the rest of July. Go get it!

RVA without the R: Ok so every now and then I will show love to a Virginia spot that’s not in our backyard, but still a block away. (mostly RVA though. I promise.) This sweet spot is good if you’re venturing to Norfolk or Virginia Beach.

Biscoff Crepe 🥞
Lily’s Crepes

A crepe made with a lotus spread. The best description I can muster is a Biscoff cookie in butter form, with cinnamon and spice undertones. Ha. That was pretty good actually.

Also banana, vanilla ice cream, Biscoff drizzle, and graham cookie crumbs.

Spirited Sweet of the Week

(you know - liquored up, NSFW, kid unfriendly, adulting)

“Cobra’s Fang”
Sincero

This concoction is made of rum, passionfruit, ginger, cinnamon, and citrus. Perfect for a hot day. The restaurant specializes in Mexican-American cuisine.

Sweet Scout Partner
Pop Up RVA

After being known for its weekly artist market at The Diamond (don’t fret, lots of food and sweet vendors as well), Pop Up RVA is expanding to a permanent location in Chesterfield.

The space is 9,000 sq ft and will feature 30 local businesses every day. Coming August 1 so be in the look out!
